Kenwood and Stanley, along with being some of the finest jazz musicians in the world, are also educators looking to share their musical expertise with students all over the world.
Metajam is a concept developed by Kenwood Dennard which uses a system of conduction to allow for structure and form within the context of a group improvisation.
Released in 2018, this recording is a prime example of the use of metajamming in music. The CD features Kenwood Dennard, Stanley Jordan, Vernon Reid (Living Color), Wes Wirth, Alexander Anderson, Delmar Brown (Sting), TM Stevens (James Brown, Bootsy Collins) and more. Kenwood Metajam Allstars plans to do some more live performances in 2019.
Kenwood has been a professor at Berklee College of Music for over 20 years. He has trained countless successful musicians (Lettuce, Animals as Leaders, Consider the Source, Medeski, Martin and Wood and countless others) his method at Berklee and around the world.
Kenwood has been doing masterclasses for over 38 years and is excited to bring this newly documented method of collaboration to his students around the world.
Kenwood will be releasing his "MetaJam" book in 2019, complimented by a teacher's guide. In the MetaJam workshops, they will be teaching group improvisation for all levels, students, teachers, corporate managers could all benefit from his classes.
2 day, 3 day, and 7 day workshops are designed to be flexible for different circumstances.
